Study for non-daily users of nicotine pouches

We are looking for adult non-daily users of nicotine pouches for a research study.

The purpose of the study is to gain a preliminary understanding of the effect of nicotine on attention when administered orally using a soluble nicotine tablet, in adults who use nicotine pouches occasionally.

Target group: adults, non-daily users of nicotine pouches, aged 19-60 years

Criteria for participation:

• Be in good health
• Have used nicotine pouches for at least 3 months
• Use nicotine pouches 1-5 days per week, fewer than four pouches per day (in the last 30 days)
• No use of other nicotine products apart from nicotine pouches more often than once a month
• No use, or planned use of, nicotine replacement therapy or any other smoking cessation medication
• No visual or motor impairments that could affect the ability to perform a computer-based attention test
• No participation in any other research study during the last month
• Willing to use approved contraception/be sterile/postmenopausal and not be pregnant or breastfeeding (women)

You will be asked to attend six visits at our clinic in Uppsala over a period of 40 to 60 days: one health check and five test visits, plus any follow-up phone calls. During the test visits, you will receive a soluble nicotine tablet or a placebo. You must avoid using tobacco/nicotine and caffeine products the night before the test visits.

Compensation:

SEK 10,685 in compensation for your participation.
