Drug Trial for Epilepsy in Healthy Individuals

We are looking for healthy participants for a study involving an investigational drug for drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE).

The purpose of the study is to investigate the drug’s safety and tolerability, as well as how it is absorbed
, distributed, and excreted in the body following repeated dosing over a two-week period in healthy
individuals.

Target group: healthy individuals, ages 18–65

Criteria for participation:

  • Be healthy
  • Have a BMI between 18.5 and 30 kg/m²
  • Weigh at least 55 kg
  • Do not use nicotine or tobacco products on a regular basis
  • Do not take any medications or dietary supplements
  • Have not participated in any other drug trial in the past three months
  • Have not donated blood in the past three months (or plasma in the past month)
  • Be willing to use a dual barrier method during heterosexual intercourse. This means that
    both the man and the woman need to use approved contraceptives or be
    sterile or postmenopausal.
  • Women must not be pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding during the study

The study consists of four visits to our clinic in Uppsala: one health checkup, two clinic visits, and one
follow-up visit. During one of these visits, you will stay at the clinic and spend 16 days there.
You will receive the study medication or a placebo in capsule form once a day for 14 days.
A lumbar puncture will be performed on two occasions. This is a common medical
procedure in which a sample of cerebrospinal fluid is taken from the lower back under local anesthesia by
experienced healthcare professionals.

Compensation: 56,140 SEK for your participation.
